About me

A First-Class Honours graduate in Product Design (BSc) from the University of Dundee, I currently work at McLaren Racing as a Support Machining Technician. With a strong foundation in materials, manufacturing processes, and design for performance, I’m now looking to transition into a design-focused engineering role where I can bring together creativity, technical knowledge, and hands-on experience in elite motorsport environments.

Outside of work, I volunteer as a motorsport marshal with the BMMC, work on personal creative projects and will be running the Edinburgh Marathon, reflecting my commitment to both the sport and personal discipline.

Personal Statement

Having grown from a lifelong passion for motorsport into a hands-on production role at McLaren Racing, I am now seeking to move into a design-focused position where I can apply both creative and engineering skill sets more directly. My background in Product Design (BSc Hons) and current experience as a Support Machining Technician have given me deep insight into how upstream design decisions affect manufacturing performance and overall vehicle success.

Throughout my time at McLaren, I’ve collaborated closely with the machine shop, manufacturing engineers, and process engineering teams. These experiences have strengthened my ambition to contribute earlier in the development cycle, designing components that meet the extreme demands of F1 while being manufacturable and efficient.

To support this transition, I am applying for the part-time MSc in Motorsport Engineering at Oxford Brookes University (2025–2027), allowing me to remain focused on my role at McLaren while deepening my technical expertise. In parallel, I’m expanding my skill set by taking on cross-departmental projects, including volunteering with the Mission Control strategy team for the 2025 season, and arranging shadowing opportunities with the process engineering team and manufacturing engineering team.

I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how I can best position myself to bring added value to McLaren through a future in design engineering.
